Virtual Items Policy

1. Who offers virtual items

Noveltree is operated by Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree, 18 King Street East, Suite 1400, Toronto, ON, M5C 1C4, Canada. Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree offers the virtual items described in this policy unless a different provider is identified to you at the point of purchase.

2. Related Terms and eligibility

Our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Payment Dispute Evidence notice, and any applicable product, promotion, or creator program terms also apply to your access to and use of virtual items. If there is a conflict between this policy and a more specific virtual item or promotion term that applies to your transaction, the more specific term will control.

Noveltree is a service for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to access or use virtual items, buy Coins, unlock paid content, or use Sticker features through Noveltree. If local law requires a higher age for a particular transaction or feature, that higher age requirement still applies.

3. What virtual items are

Virtual items are digital items, digital rights, or digital services ordinarily used within Noveltree. They may include Coins, account-served access entitlements, chapter unlocks, full-work access, Stickers, promotional credits, Creator Consumable Credits, badges, or other in-product features we make available from time to time. A No DRM or Soft DRM purchased-content right, including ownership of the personal-use offline copy described in the Terms of Service, is governed by the purchased-access rules in those Terms rather than this in-service-use limitation.

Coins and other reader-facing virtual items are closed-loop digital items usable only inside Noveltree for eligible digital content and platform features. They are not cash, legal tender, deposits, securities, open-loop stored value, payment accounts, remittance instruments, creator funds, seller proceeds, redeemable financial assets, investment products, bank accounts, financial instruments, cryptocurrency, or general-purpose payment instruments. Except where required by law, Coins and reader-facing virtual items cannot be redeemed for cash.

Coins and virtual items cannot be transferred user-to-user, sold, traded, pledged, sublicensed, exchanged with other users, sent to creators, used outside Noveltree, or exchanged for money or monetary value.

Creator Consumable Credits are separate from Coins purchased or received by readers. If offered, Creator Consumable Credits are closed-loop platform credits issued by Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree only after net approved Copyright Royalties are applied by creator election and accepted by Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree under the applicable Creator Terms.

4. Coins

Coins are closed-loop digital items that may be used only within Noveltree for eligible in-product features, such as unlocking digital content, accessing eligible digital services, using Stickers, or using other paid platform features where offered. The number of Coins needed for a given feature will be shown before you use them.

Promotional Coins may be used for any eligible reader-facing Noveltree feature that accepts Coins, including eligible chapter access, full-work access, and Stickers, unless different usage limits, expiration dates, territory restrictions, account restrictions, or promotion-specific conditions are disclosed when they are granted.

Coins may be used for eligible personal-library features, including expanded shelf space, book slots, storage capacity, import features, or related private-reading tools where offered. These features are internal Noveltree platform features. They do not generate Copyright Royalties, Sticker-associated Copyright Royalties, creator payouts, seller proceeds, or user-to-creator transfers.

Where our interface provides it, your account may display your current Coin balance and a history of Coin purchases, uses, adjustments, and other account activity. This display is an in-app record of your available Coins and is not a bank account, stored value account, deposit account, or financial account.

Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree may track paid Coins separately from promotional, bonus, free, test, courtesy, or otherwise unpaid Coins, and any refund, remediation, expiry, cancellation, or service-discontinuation treatment may differ by Coin type, subject to applicable law.

Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree may also track Creator Consumable Credits, restricted credits, administrative credits, refunded Coins, reversed Coins, and other source buckets separately. Source buckets may have different usage restrictions, refund treatment, reporting treatment, expiry treatment, tax or accounting treatment, and abuse controls, subject to applicable law. Under the current access-royalty schedule, legitimate Paid Coins, Promotional Coins, and Creator Consumable Credits receive the same royalty value when consumed for eligible chapter or full-work access.

5. Stickers

Stickers are digital expressive, collectible, visual, social, display, and content-associated platform items made available by Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree within Noveltree. Stickers may be associated with eligible chapters, books, series, creator profiles, creator catalogues, or other Noveltree experiences. Stickers are consumed immediately when used or submitted unless we clearly disclose otherwise before use.

Sending or using a Sticker means using eligible Coins or credits to cause a Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree-supplied digital Sticker item, reaction, visual artifact, association, notification, display, or platform event to appear in connection with eligible literary content or another eligible Noveltree surface. Sending or using a Sticker does not transfer money, Coins, stored value, proceeds, funds, or financial assets to a creator, and does not create a creator wallet or creator-held balance.

For royalty-calculation purposes, Sticker activity is eligible only where Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree treats it as associated with eligible literary content, a book, chapter, series, creator catalogue, or another content-associated Noveltree surface. Sticker activity on non-content surfaces may be display-only, non-compensable, excluded, capped, weighted differently, or otherwise treated under platform rules.

Stickers have independent product utility. They are visual, may be rare or seasonal, may be associated with chapters or books, and creators may be able to display received Stickers on their profile, content pages, or other Noveltree surfaces.

A received Sticker is a visual and social platform artifact only. It is not money, Coins, stored value, Copyright Royalties, Creator Consumable Credits, a payout right, a financial asset, or a creator-owned balance. A Sticker cannot be redeemed, sold, traded, transferred, exchanged for cash, converted into Copyright Royalties, Creator Consumable Credits, Coins, or any other value.

A Sticker's association with a book, chapter, series, creator profile, or creator catalogue does not make the Sticker part of the underlying literary work, transfer ownership of the Sticker or literary work, or grant any separate rights in the Sticker, literary work, or combined display. Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree may remove, hide, moderate, expire, rotate, or change Sticker display features under the applicable terms and platform rules.

Sticker activity may be one content-associated engagement input in Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree's platform-calculated Copyright Royalties under the applicable Creator Terms. Sticker-associated Copyright Royalties are Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree-calculated royalties for licensed literary works, not tips, donations, gifts, gratuities, service fees, reader-to-creator transfers, pass-through payments, remittances, seller proceeds, creator funds, or payments from the user who sent the Sticker.

A Sticker's Coin cost, rarity, category, display treatment, promotional value, seasonal status, or user-facing presentation does not create a fixed creator entitlement, represent funds held for a creator, or mean the sender's Coins are transferred to the creator. Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree may determine royalty values, rates, weights, multipliers, formulas, pools, caps, exclusions, or eligibility rules for Sticker activity by source bucket, territory, content type, category, rarity, fraud status, rights status, account status, refund or chargeback status, or other platform-defined factors.

6. Copyright Royalties and Creator Consumable Credits are separate

Creators do not receive Coins or Sticker value directly. Creators do not receive reader funds through Noveltree, and Sticker activity is not treated as reader funds held for or transmitted to creators.

Creator earnings may be shown as Estimated Copyright Royalties or Approved Copyright Royalties under applicable Creator Terms. Estimated Copyright Royalties are preliminary, informational, non-final, non-transferable, and non-payable. Approved Copyright Royalties are Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree-reviewed royalties eligible for scheduled treatment under the Creator Terms.

Copyright Royalties are not Coins, virtual items, deposits, bank balances, stored value accounts, virtual currency, securities, cryptocurrency, seller proceeds, or general-purpose payment instruments.

If offered, Creator Consumable Credits are optional closed-loop credits created only after net approved Copyright Royalties are applied by creator election and accepted by Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree. They are not purchased Coins, cash substitutes, deposits, stored funds, payment accounts, financial assets, or amounts redeemable back into Copyright Royalties or cash.

Creator Consumable Credits may be used only for eligible Noveltree content access and reading-access features that Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree makes available for that source bucket. They cannot be used for Stickers unless Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree expressly enables that source bucket for Sticker use. We may prohibit use on a creator's own content, affiliated or related content, self-dealing content, or features we designate as unavailable for that source bucket.

Under the current schedule, each Creator Consumable Credit consumed for eligible chapter or full-work access generates the same USD $0.01 Paid Access Royalty as a Paid Coin or Promotional Coin. Creator Consumable Credits remain unavailable for Stickers unless Noveltree expressly enables them.

If Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree later enables Creator Consumable Credits for Stickers, that Sticker activity will be source-bucketed separately and will be non-compensable by default unless Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree expressly includes it in the applicable royalty formula. Using Creator Consumable Credits for a Sticker would not transfer money, Coins, Copyright Royalties, stored value, or other value to any creator. Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree may exclude, reduce, reverse, reserve, cap, weight differently, or treat as ineligible or non-compensable any Sticker activity funded by Creator Consumable Credits, promotional credits, bonus credits, test or administrative credits, refunded or reversed Coins, self-dealing, related accounts, collusion, fraud, abuse, rights issues, sanctions risk, chargebacks, refunds, or platform-integrity concerns.

7. How you can buy virtual items

Virtual items may be purchased directly from Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree through Noveltree, through Apple App Store, Google Play, another app store, or another authorized payment or distribution channel identified at the point of purchase.

Purchases through Apple App Store, Google Play, or other app stores may be subject to those providers' purchase, billing, refund, restoration, and cancellation rules. Noveltree may adjust access, virtual items, Copyright Royalties, or payout eligibility to reflect app-store refunds, reversals, chargebacks, or payment-provider decisions.

By creating an account and affirmatively accepting the Terms of Service, which link to and incorporate the relevant Privacy Policy and this Virtual Items Policy disclosures, you give account-level consent for RevenueCat to respond on Noveltree's behalf when Apple reviews a refund request. RevenueCat may confirm that consent, report purchase delivery status and whether sample content, a trial, or information about the purchase's functionality was provided before purchase, and convey Noveltree's preference to let Apple decide. Under Noveltree's current RevenueCat-managed process, Noveltree does not provide RevenueCat with its detailed FIFO Coin-allocation packet or a calculated Coin-consumption percentage for Apple. The Coin-purchase clickwrap separately requires acceptance of the applicable Virtual Items Policy and purchase terms; it does not request a separate Apple evidence-consent checkbox or repeat that consent for every Coin purchase. You may withdraw Apple consent for future Apple reviews in Privacy settings without losing the ability to read or buy Coins. The Payment Dispute Evidence notice describes the current provider-specific fields and process.

Google Play, Stripe, and PayPal refund and dispute evidence is not controlled by that optional Apple consent. Noveltree may process and disclose minimized transaction-specific information for those providers to perform and enforce the transaction, prevent or detect fraud and abuse, respond to refunds, disputes, or chargebacks, defend legal claims, and comply with law and provider rules.

8. Pricing, taxes, and real-world price information

The total price payable for virtual items will be displayed at the point of purchase in the applicable currency, together with any taxes or mandatory charges we are required to display. Your bank, card issuer, app store, or payment provider may impose additional fees such as foreign exchange or payment processing fees, which are outside our control.

We will not intentionally advertise Coin package prices, content access prices, Sticker prices, or other paid feature prices that are unavailable because mandatory fixed charges are added later, except for government-imposed charges such as sales tax where the law permits separate display. Any mandatory charges we control and are required to display will be shown before checkout.

Coin package pricing may vary by package, promotion, platform, taxes, app-store fees, bonus credits, region, and payment channel. Coin amounts and package prices do not create a fixed cash peg, exchange rate, or redemption value for Coins.

Where virtual items are used to buy or unlock digital content or services, we will present pricing and pre-contract information in the manner required by applicable law, including clear information about what you are buying, any important restrictions, and, where required, the real-world monetary price of the relevant content or service.

We will show the required Coins before you use Coins for eligible content or platform features. We will show the total purchase price and any taxes we are required to display before you purchase Coins or other virtual items. We will not intentionally use pricing or Coin displays in a way that obscures the real-world cost of digital content or services purchased through Noveltree.

9. Using virtual items

Except for a No DRM or Soft DRM personal-use offline copy owned under the Terms of Service, virtual items may be used only within Noveltree and only for the in-product purposes Noveltree makes available. Users may not sell, resell, trade, exchange, pledge, broker, sublicense, or transfer virtual items, Copyright Royalties, or Creator Consumable Credits to any other person, inside or outside Noveltree.

Virtual items, Coins, Stickers, Sticker activity, Copyright Royalties, and Creator Consumable Credits may not be used for peer-to-peer payments, charity collection, lending, investment, gambling, wagering, stored value services, currency exchange, cryptocurrency transactions, securities activity, or any off-platform payment purpose.

Noveltree is designed as a digital reading and creator-content platform. Users may not use Noveltree, Coins, Stickers, creator engagement signals, Copyright Royalties, Creator Consumable Credits, or payout features for any purpose other than eligible Noveltree content and platform features.

Personal-library upload and import features, where offered, are for private reading and organization. Users may not use those features to infringe copyright, share unauthorized copies, distribute pirated works, bypass DRM, or make content available to other users unless Noveltree expressly provides a feature for that use and the user has the necessary rights.

Downloaded, cached, or reader-accessible content may include visible or invisible watermarks, forensic markers, metadata, account or license identifiers, download identifiers, rights notices, access controls, copy limits, download limits, or other technical protection measures. Users may not remove, alter, obscure, bypass, disable, or interfere with those measures except where expressly permitted by law.

10. Refunds, cooling-off rights, and changes of mind

If you purchased a virtual item through an app store, that app store may control refunds and cancellations, subject to its own terms and any rights you have under applicable law.

If you purchased a virtual item directly from Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree, refunds are available where required by law, where the virtual item was defective or not delivered as promised, or where we state otherwise at the point of purchase.

If local law gives you a cooling-off or cancellation right, those rights continue to apply. For example, if you live in a jurisdiction that grants cancellation rights for unused Coins purchased directly from us, we will honor those rights for the unused portion as required by law.

If you buy digital content or services that are supplied immediately, we may ask for your express consent to begin performance right away and, where permitted by law, your acknowledgment that this may affect or end any cancellation right once the content or service starts.

Coins are fungible rather than individually numbered. For transaction-specific refund accounting, Noveltree assigns Paid Coin spending to the oldest available paid Coin deposit first and preserves that allocation when the spend occurs. If exact legacy attribution cannot be established reliably, Noveltree will not represent an exact consumption percentage to a provider.

11. Expiry, promotional credits, and no cash value

Unless we clearly tell you otherwise at the point of purchase and local law permits it, paid Coins do not expire solely because of the passage of time while your account remains active and in good standing.

Promotional, bonus, administrative, restricted, courtesy, or test credits are not purchased items, have no cash value, may be limited, may expire if disclosed when granted, and may be revoked or adjusted where permitted by law. Legitimate Promotional Coin and Creator Consumable Credit use for eligible chapter or full-work access receives the same current royalty value as Paid Coin use. Royalties connected to test or administrative credits, reversed, disputed, refunded, fraudulent, self-dealing, collusive, or otherwise invalid activity may be excluded, paused for review, deducted, or reversed.

Additional Coins included in a paid Coin package may be classified as Paid Coins. Promotional Coins receive the same Paid Access Royalty value as Paid Coins when consumed for eligible chapter or full-work access, although expiry, refund, and usage restrictions may differ by source bucket.

Except as required by law, virtual items cannot be redeemed for cash and cannot be transferred, sublicensed, pledged, sold, or traded.

Creator Consumable Credits cannot be redeemed for cash, transferred, sold, traded, pledged, converted back into Copyright Royalties, or used outside Noveltree. If your account is closed, suspended, or terminated, access to unused Creator Consumable Credits may be limited or lost, subject to any rights required by law.

If your account is closed, suspended, or terminated, access to unused Coins or virtual items may be limited or lost, subject to any refund, cancellation, preservation, or other rights required by law.

Unless otherwise stated at purchase, paid shelf-space entitlements and similar personal-library platform features do not expire solely because of time while your account remains active and in good standing. They remain subject to account status, service availability, storage limits, legal requirements, this policy, and the Terms.

12. Failed payments, chargebacks, and abuse

You are responsible for chargebacks, reversed payments, failed payments, and fees arising from your payment method or your use of virtual items. A request for review does not by itself create a negative Coin balance. While a provider reviews a request, we may temporarily make the remaining Paid Coins attributable to that payment unavailable so they cannot be spent twice. Other eligible Coins remain available.

If the provider confirms that funds have been held, withdrawn, refunded, reversed, charged back, or otherwise lost, Noveltree may provisionally or finally reverse the corresponding Coin credit. That reversal may create a negative Paid Coin balance when some or all of the credited Coins were already consumed. Future Paid Coin credits first reduce that deficit before becoming available for new purchases or uses. If the payment is restored or the dispute is resolved in Noveltree's favour, Noveltree will restore the corresponding Coins and remove the related restriction.

If a payment, Coin purchase, virtual item use, Sticker, content purchase, or Creator Consumable Credit-funded activity is refunded, reversed, charged back, disputed, fraudulent, unauthorized, self-dealing, collusive, or otherwise invalid, Noveltree may adjust, reserve, reverse, exclude, cap, weight differently, or deduct related virtual items, access rights, Copyright Royalties, Creator Consumable Credits, or payout eligibility.

We may limit, suspend, or revoke virtual items where we reasonably suspect fraud, charge abuse, unauthorized activity, or a material violation of our Terms of Service or this policy, subject to any mandatory legal rights you have. Content already consumed or unlocked is not automatically relocked merely because a review opens, although access may be restricted where a final refund, fraud, abuse, law, or provider rule requires it.

Noveltree does not authorize any secondary market for Coins, virtual items, Stickers, Copyright Royalties, Creator Consumable Credits, or account access. Any attempted sale, purchase, trade, brokered transfer, collateralization, or off-platform exchange is void and may result in suspension, loss of virtual items, loss of Creator Consumable Credits, or loss of payout eligibility, subject to mandatory legal rights.

13. Availability, sanctions, and service changes

Virtual items, prices, bundles, features, and eligible uses may change over time. We will not use this policy to unfairly deprive you of non-waivable consumer rights. If we discontinue a paid virtual item or materially change how it works, we will provide any notice or remedy required by applicable law.

Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree may change, suspend, remove, replace, limit, or discontinue content, features, Stickers, virtual items, Coin uses, or parts of Noveltree from time to time, subject to applicable law. Removing content from new sale or access does not revoke paid purchased-content rights except as expressly permitted by the purchased-access rules in the Terms of Service.

If Noveltree is discontinued, if paid Coin functionality is materially discontinued, or if substantially all content or features for which paid Coins can reasonably be used become unavailable, Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree may provide affected users with one or more legally compliant remedies. These may include a reasonable wind-down period to use eligible paid Coins, replacement content or features, transfer to a successor service, account credit, refund of unused paid Coins where required by law, or another remedy determined by Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree or required by applicable law.

If a paid personal-library shelf-space feature is discontinued or materially changed, Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree may provide a reasonable wind-down period, a replacement feature, account credit, refund where required by law, or another lawful remedy consistent with the treatment of paid virtual items.

Promotional, bonus, free, test, courtesy, or otherwise unpaid Coins may be cancelled, limited, or expire as disclosed and may not be eligible for refund, replacement, or other remediation unless required by applicable law.

Noveltree may screen users, creators, businesses, payout methods, countries, transactions, content activity, and Sticker activity for sanctions, fraud, tax, payment, and compliance risk. Noveltree may pause, delay, decline, reverse, or cancel access, Copyright Royalties, Creator Consumable Credit Elections, Sticker features, or payouts where required by law, requested by a payment provider, or reasonably necessary to manage legal or platform risk.

Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree may restrict, exclude, weight, cap, reverse, reserve, or deny royalty treatment for activity involving promotional credits, bonus credits, Creator Consumable Credits, test or administrative credits, refunded Coins, reversed Coins, related accounts, affiliated accounts, reciprocal creator loops, self-dealing, collusion, fraud, abuse, sanctions risk, rights issues, or platform-integrity concerns.
