Content Guidelines

1. Adults-only service

Noveltree is intended only for people who are at least 18 years old. Do not create an account, submit content, use paid features, or apply as a creator if you are under 18 or under the age required for the relevant feature in your jurisdiction.

Noveltree is not directed to children or minors. We may use declared age, verified age, jurisdiction, app-store age ratings, platform requirements, and other safety controls to restrict accounts, creator access, paid features, mature content, interactive features, previews, search, recommendations, and other platform features.

We may remove accounts or content where we reasonably believe an under-18 person is using the service or where content appears to exploit, sexualize, endanger, harm, or target minors for exploitation, sexualization, unsafe contact, recruitment, or harm. Providing a false age or bypassing age controls may result in account removal, suspension, loss of creator access, content removal, or other action.

2. Do not submit AI-generated or AI-assisted content

You may not submit, publish, promote, or monetize AI-generated or AI-assisted writing, art, illustration, cover art, key art, translation, adaptation, outline, or other creative or editorial content.

You may not submit content that was drafted, rewritten, translated, adapted, illustrated, composed, outlined, expanded, summarized, or materially assisted by generative AI tools.

Reviews, comments, public messages, profile text, collection descriptions, tags, reports, and other public-facing user submissions must be written in your own words. You may not submit AI-generated or materially AI-assisted reviews, comments, messages, fake engagement, bulk-generated commentary, or content designed to manipulate rankings, recommendations, ratings, moderation, Sticker activity, or creator royalties.

This rule does not prohibit ordinary non-generative tools used for spell-checking, grammar flagging, word processing, file conversion, formatting, typesetting, accessibility checks, image compression, colour correction, layout, metadata entry, or production, provided those tools do not draft, rewrite, translate, adapt, summarize, outline, illustrate, generate assets, or otherwise supply creative or editorial expression for the work.

Noveltree's No-AI rule is a content-authenticity standard, not an invitation to accuse or harass creators. We do not treat automated AI-detector outputs alone as conclusive proof that a work violates these Guidelines.

Automated AI-detection tools and similar signals can be unreliable and may produce false positives, including for new writers, non-native English writers, translated writing, concise writing styles, or unusual prose. Noveltree may consider automated signals as one input, but we review No-AI concerns in context.

Noveltree may require creator attestations, drafts, notes, sketches, source files, edit history, commissioning records, licenses, publication history, metadata, or other reasonable evidence of authorship, translation, source assets, or creative process.

Users may report suspected AI-content violations in good faith through Noveltree's reporting tools or contact channels, but may not harass creators, organize public accusation campaigns, submit knowingly false reports, or target writers based on style, language background, popularity, identity, or disagreement with the work.

3. Content we do not allow

You may not submit, publish, promote, or monetize content or activity that:

• is illegal or encourages illegal conduct;
• exploits, sexualizes, endangers, or harms minors;
• contains non-consensual intimate imagery;
• sexualizes minors or age-ambiguous characters, presents minors as sexual objects, visually depicts explicit sexual activity involving minors, or graphically describes sexual activity involving minors in a manner reasonably understood as serving sexual arousal;
• contains sexual exploitation, coercion, trafficking, or abuse presented in a way reasonably understood as serving sexual arousal;
• promotes terrorism, violent extremism, or organized criminal activity;
• promotes self-harm or suicide;
• contains hate, hateful conduct, dehumanizing or abusive content based on protected or sensitive characteristics, unlawful hate content, or content that promotes harassment, exclusion, or violence against protected groups;
• contains harassment, threats, stalking, or targeted abuse;
• defames another person or entity;
• impersonates another person, creator, publisher, company, or rights holder;
• infringes intellectual property or is plagiarized;
• is AI-generated or AI-assisted writing, art, illustration, cover art, key art, translation, adaptation, outline, or other creative or editorial content;
• was drafted, rewritten, translated, adapted, illustrated, composed, outlined, expanded, or materially assisted by generative AI tools;
• is an AI-generated or materially AI-assisted review, comment, public message, profile text, collection description, tag, report, fake engagement, or bulk-generated commentary;
• violates privacy, publicity, confidentiality, or contractual rights;
• contains spam, scams, phishing, deceptive links, malware, or malicious code;
• manipulates rankings, reviews, recommendations, engagement, Stickers, or monetization;
• solicits off-platform payment for platform content or paid platform features;
• attempts to bypass Noveltree payment, content access, or safety controls; or
• otherwise violates applicable law, app-store rules, payment-provider rules, or Noveltree policies.

4. Mature fiction and exploitative content

Noveltree may allow mature literary works that depict difficult themes, including violence, trauma, abuse, coercion, crime, self-harm, sexual violence, or minor-related abuse, where the material is lawful, properly labelled, not visually sexualized or pornographic as to minors, not reasonably understood as serving sexual arousal involving minors, and treated as part of a serious literary, critical, historical, psychological, horror, crime, or trauma-centered narrative.

Noveltree is an 18+ reading and creator-content platform for literary and narrative works. It is not a pornography platform. Content whose primary purpose, presentation, packaging, or monetization is pornographic, exploitative, or principally sexual-arousal-oriented may be rejected, restricted, hidden by default, removed from app-store-distributed experiences, demonetized, or made unavailable, even if otherwise lawful.

Noveltree does not allow content that promotes, instructs, facilitates, solicits, glorifies, or primarily eroticizes real-world harm, sexual exploitation, non-consensual sexual activity, trafficking, abuse, self-harm, suicide, terrorism, or illegal conduct.

Noveltree does not allow content that sexualizes minors or age-ambiguous characters, presents minors as sexual objects, visually depicts explicit sexual activity involving minors, graphically describes sexual activity involving minors in a manner reasonably understood as serving sexual arousal, or markets, tags, describes, illustrates, or packages minor-related abuse as erotic, romanticized, fetish, fantasy, or arousal-oriented content. This includes fictional, illustrated, simulated, stylized, aged-up, or childlike characters.

Noveltree may reject, restrict, age-gate, demonetize, or remove content involving minors or age-ambiguous or childlike characters where the content, title, tags, cover, description, preview, promotional materials, monetization, or overall presentation is reasonably understood as sexualized, fetishized, eroticized, romanticized, exploitative, or likely to serve sexual arousal.

Noveltree may evaluate the full context of a work, including its text, cover art, key art, title, tags, description, previews, category, promotional materials, content labels, user reports, creator history, and monetization patterns. We may reject, restrict, remove, age-gate, disable monetization for, or decline promotion where difficult subject matter is packaged, tagged, marketed, illustrated, or presented in a way that appears exploitative, eroticized, misleading, unsafe, or inconsistent with Noveltree's platform standards.

5. Labels, tags, and warnings

Creators must accurately apply maturity labels, genres, tags, content warnings, language, completion status, series information, ownership information, and other metadata where those fields are available or required. Labels and warnings must not be misleading, incomplete, manipulative, or designed to avoid review, age-gating, safety controls, reader expectations, app-store rules, or platform rules.

Noveltree may add, remove, change, or require labels, tags, descriptions, content warnings, category placement, age-gating, preview limits, recommendation limits, or other presentation controls. Applying a mature label or content warning does not guarantee that content will be accepted, promoted, monetized, or kept available.

Presentation controls may include default safe-search filters, mature-content opt-ins, app-channel restrictions, exclusion from previews or promotional surfaces, search limits, discovery limits, recommendation limits, notification limits, and other visibility or access controls.

A published work is treated as explicit when the creator marks the work explicit or when at least 70% of its published chapters are marked explicit. For a work marked incomplete, the chapter-based threshold applies only after at least four chapters have been published. This minimum avoids classifying a new incomplete work from a single early chapter; it does not make an explicit chapter available without the reader's explicit-content setting.

Each explicit chapter remains subject to the reader's explicit-content setting even when the overall work has not crossed the work-level threshold. Chapter-level content warnings are shown before access and remain available in chapter listings. Works treated as explicit are excluded from ordinary search and discovery for readers who have not enabled explicit content.

Tags, titles, descriptions, previews, and promotional materials may not frame abuse, sexual violence, minor-related abuse, self-harm, suicide, hate, harassment, or other sensitive material in an eroticized, sensationalized, misleading, or exploitative way.

6. Cover art, key art, and promotional images

Cover art, key art, and promotional images must meet Noveltree's platform quality standards. Noveltree may reject, remove, restrict, or require replacement of cover art, key art, or promotional images that are blurry, pixelated, stretched, distorted, poorly cropped, illegible, watermarked, placeholder-like, misleading, inconsistent with the work or metadata, visually incoherent, or otherwise unsuitable for reader-facing discovery, paid access, promotion, or platform presentation.

Key art means visual artwork, image plates, hero images, thumbnails, banners, or similar visual assets used to represent, display, or promote a work on Noveltree. Key art may be separate from, adapted from, or derived from cover art, but it must comply with Noveltree's visual-art, rights, and No-AI rules.

AI-generated or AI-assisted cover art, key art, illustrations, typography, composites, image elements, or visual assets are not allowed.

Ordinary non-generative editing, layout, typography, and production tools may be used for cover and key art design, provided those tools do not generate or materially supply creative visual expression and the result otherwise complies with these Content Guidelines.

Cover art, key art, and promotional images may not contain nudity, pornography, sexual poses, sexualized imagery, sexual exploitation, sexualized minors, explicit sexual content, hate, harassment, illegal content, misleading branding, unauthorized third-party rights, advertising, pricing, QR codes, URLs, watermarks, or platform or store logos.

Creators may refer to Noveltree truthfully, such as saying that a work is available on Noveltree, but cover art, key art, promotional images, metadata, descriptions, profiles, or other submitted materials may not use Noveltree's name, logo, badges, screenshots, branding, or similar assets in a way that suggests endorsement, sponsorship, certification, partnership, special placement, or official approval unless Noveltree authorizes that use.

Cover art, key art, promotional images, titles, tags, descriptions, previews, and promotional materials are held to stricter standards than interior narrative text. They may not contain or imply sexualized minors, age-ambiguous sexualized characters, nudity, pornography, sexual poses, or erotic framing of abuse, even where the underlying work may discuss or depict mature themes.

7. Content quality

Creator Content must meet Noveltree's content quality standards. Noveltree may reject, remove, restrict, reduce visibility for, disable monetization for, or require changes to Creator Content that is incomplete, placeholder-like, unreadable, corrupted, misleading, duplicative, spammy, primarily promotional, artificially split, inconsistent with its metadata, or otherwise unsuitable for reader-facing discovery, paid access, promotion, or platform presentation.

Serialized, episodic, preview, and in-progress works are permitted when accurately labelled and not misleading. For this section, "incomplete" means incomplete for the access offered, placeholder-like, materially inconsistent with the creator's description or metadata, or not a genuine readable installment. It does not mean that an accurately labelled ongoing series is prohibited.

Paid chapters, full-work access, previews, descriptions, tags, genres, covers, and creator metadata must accurately represent the submitted work and must not mislead readers about the content, length, language, authorship, rights status, format, completion status, or purchase experience.

Creator Content may not be structured or uploaded in a way designed to manipulate unlocks, Stickers, engagement signals, rankings, recommendations, Copyright Royalties, Creator Consumable Credits, or payout eligibility.

8. Historical public-domain works

In this section, historical public-domain works means third-party works whose copyright protection has expired or otherwise no longer applies in the territories where the work would be made available or monetized. Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree may allow historical public-domain works, but public-domain status does not guarantee acceptance, paid access, promotion, Copyright Royalties, Sticker-associated Copyright Royalties, Creator Consumable Credits, or other monetized features.

Creators may not submit a historical public-domain work for paid access, Coin-based unlocks, Sticker-associated Copyright Royalties, Copyright Royalties, Creator Consumable Credits, promotion, or other monetized features unless Noveltree specifically approves paid access or monetization for that work, version, or edition in writing, or through platform tools that expressly allow monetization for it. Noveltree may approve monetization for a historical public-domain edition where the creator has made a meaningful original contribution, such as an original translation, substantial annotations or scholarly commentary, critical introduction and notes, original illustrations, restored or curated facsimile materials, archival images with original captions and context, or other substantial editorial, artistic, restoration, or curatorial work.

Formatting changes, basic OCR cleanup, public-domain cover images, linked tables of contents, metadata cleanup, generic introductions, collections of freely available texts, price changes, or repackaging alone do not normally qualify as a meaningful original contribution.

Creators must accurately identify the source work, author, publication history, public-domain basis, the territories where they want Noveltree to make the work available or monetized, and any added original material. Noveltree may require source information, rights information, public-domain analysis, proof of original contribution, or other documentation before accepting, promoting, or monetizing a historical public-domain edition.

Noveltree may reject, remove, restrict, demonetize, decline to publish, reduce visibility for, or require changes to historical public-domain uploads that are undifferentiated, duplicative, low-quality, poorly formatted, misleading, mostly copied from free sources, insufficiently transformed, or otherwise unsuitable for Noveltree.

This section does not prevent creators from submitting their own original works that they choose to make available under an open license or public-domain dedication, provided they have the rights to do so, accurately describe the license, and comply with Noveltree policies. That permission does not guarantee paid access, Copyright Royalties, Sticker-associated Copyright Royalties, Creator Consumable Credits, promotion, or other monetized features.

Creators seeking monetization approval for a historical public-domain edition may contact support@noveltree.ca with source information, public-domain basis, the territories where they want Noveltree to make the work available or monetized, and a summary of the original contribution.

9. How we moderate

Noveltree may use automated systems, human review, user reports, service-provider tools, and other review processes to moderate content and activity. We may remove, restrict, age-gate, decline to publish, or disable access to content or accounts, and may reduce visibility or disable monetization for content, at any time where we believe action is needed for legal, safety, rights, payment, app-store, platform-integrity, or compliance reasons.

We are not required to host, promote, monetize, preserve, or continue making any content available. We may also preserve content, metadata, reports, records, and related information where needed for legal compliance, safety, moderation, fraud prevention, tax, accounting, rights disputes, chargebacks, refunds, or other platform operations.

If we suspect content or activity violates our AI-content rules, we may reject, remove, restrict, demonetize, or decline to publish the content; exclude related activity from Copyright Royalties; reverse or offset related Copyright Royalties; pause Creator Consumable Credit Elections or Scheduled Royalty Payouts; or review, suspend, or terminate the related account or creator participation.

An automated AI-detector output alone is not conclusive proof of an AI-content violation. Noveltree may take temporary or precautionary action where needed for legal, safety, rights, app-store, fraud, abuse, or platform-integrity reasons while a review is pending.

For public user-generated content and user-to-user interaction features, Noveltree provides tools to report content and users, and provides blocking or muting controls where users can interact with each other. Noveltree uses filtering, automated review, human review, user reports, and other safety processes to identify and address objectionable, unlawful, infringing, abusive, exploitative, spammy, or policy-violating content. Noveltree reviews reports and takes action in a timely manner where appropriate.

10. How to report content

Users may report content or conduct using available reporting tools or by contacting support@noveltree.ca. Rights complaints should be sent under the Copyright Policy or to copyright@noveltree.ca.

If you are reporting content that you believe is illegal in any applicable jurisdiction, include enough detail for us to assess the report, including the content location, the legal reason you believe the content is illegal, your name and email address unless the report involves sexual exploitation or abuse material, and a statement that your report is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge.

We review reports using human review and automated tools, acknowledge reports where appropriate or required, may ask for more information, and may remove or restrict content, leave content available, preserve records, or take account action. Where required by law, we will provide a statement of reasons for moderation decisions and information about available appeal options.

Where required or appropriate, Noveltree may report suspected child sexual abuse material, child sexual exploitation, credible threats to life or safety, trafficking, non-consensual intimate imagery, or other criminal activity to law enforcement, Cybertip.ca, NCMEC's CyberTipline, or other designated reporting bodies, and may preserve related records as required or permitted by law.

Reports of non-consensual intimate imagery, including real, altered, or synthetic intimate visual depictions, should be marked as urgent. Where required by law, Noveltree will provide a clear removal-request process and remove qualifying reported material and known identical copies within the legally required period.

11. Appeals and legal notices

If we remove, restrict, reduce visibility for, demonetize, or decline to act on content or account activity, an affected user may request review by contacting support@noveltree.ca and identifying the content, account, report, or decision at issue. Appeals should explain why you believe the decision was wrong and include any supporting information.

Users, authorities, and other reporters may use support@noveltree.ca for illegal-content notices, appeals, and legally required communications. Communications may be sent in English. Where applicable law requires specific notice handling, reasons, redress information, or another contact method, Noveltree will provide it.
