This page explains the current Noveltree creator program and royalty schedule. For a simpler walkthrough of reader payments, Coins, eligible access, and scheduled payouts, see Payments & Royalties.

This page is a summary. The Creator Terms, Terms of Service, Virtual Items Policy, Content Guidelines, Copyright Policy, and other applicable program rules control if there is a conflict.

At a glance

  • Ownership and licence: You keep your copyright. Creator participation is non-exclusive unless a separate agreement says otherwise, and the platform licence is limited to the purposes stated below.
  • No AI-generated or AI-assisted content: The approved No-AI rule applies to writing, art, covers, key art, illustrations, translations, adaptations, outlines, and other creative or editorial content. Automated detector output alone is not conclusive proof.
  • Quality and rights: Works, covers, key art, metadata, chapters, full-work access, and historical public-domain editions must meet Noveltree’s quality, rights, public-domain, mature-content, and monetization-integrity rules.
  • How readers pay: Readers buy Coins through Noveltree or an authorized channel. Readers do not pay creators directly through Noveltree.
  • Current paid-access rate: One Royalty-Eligible Access Unit generates USD $0.01 in Estimated Copyright Royalties. Any combination of 100 eligible Paid Coins, Promotional Coins, and Creator Consumable Credits generates USD $1.00 in Estimated Copyright Royalties.
  • Platform commission and adjustments: Noveltree deducts no separate platform commission from the stated Paid Access Royalty Rate. The adjustments, exclusions, reserves, reversals, and offsets described below and in the Creator Terms still apply.
  • Payouts and credits: Eligible Approved Copyright Royalties follow Noveltree’s scheduled payout process. Creator Consumable Credit Elections may be capped at up to 50% of net approved Copyright Royalties, subject to the rules below.
  • Unpublishing and prior purchases: Creators may stop new paid access subject to the stated limits. Ordinary unpublishing does not revoke licences already purchased, and Noveltree may continue serving the immutable version sold to each purchaser.

1. Content authenticity and no-AI rule

Creators may not submit AI-generated or AI-assisted text, artwork, cover art, key art, illustrations, translations, adaptations, outlines, or other creative or editorial content.

Noveltree's No-AI rule is a good-faith content-authenticity standard, not an invitation to accuse or harass creators. Automated AI-detector outputs are not conclusive proof by themselves.

We generally rely on creator representations and attestations about authorship, but may review specific concerns in context. If a concern arises, we may ask for reasonable process evidence, such as drafts, notes, sketches, source files, edit history, commissioning records, licenses, metadata, or publication history.

Creators and readers may report genuine No-AI concerns in good faith, but public accusation campaigns, harassment, knowingly false reports, or targeting writers based on style, language background, popularity, identity, or disagreement with a work are not allowed.

Noveltree does not use Creator Content to train or fine-tune any generative AI model, and does not permit service providers to use Creator Content for those training or fine-tuning purposes. Noveltree and specialized service providers may process content using automated systems for moderation, abuse prevention, classification, safety, recommendations, metadata generation, and platform operations.

2. Cover, key-art, metadata, and content quality

Creator works, cover art, key art, metadata, chapters, and full-work access must be accurate, readable, and suitable for reader-facing discovery, paid access, promotion, and platform presentation. Noveltree may reject, restrict, reduce visibility for, disable monetization for, or require changes to content, cover art, or key art that is misleading, unreadable, placeholder-like, spammy, artificially split, visually incoherent, or inconsistent with the work or metadata.

Cover art, key art, and promotional images may not contain nudity, pornography, sexualized imagery, AI-generated or AI-assisted visual assets, misleading branding, unauthorized third-party rights, advertising, pricing, QR codes, URLs, watermarks, or platform or store logos.

Key art means visual artwork, image plates, hero images, thumbnails, banners, or similar visual assets used to represent, display, or promote a work on Noveltree. Key art may be separate from, adapted from, or derived from cover art, but it must follow Noveltree's visual-art, rights, and No-AI rules.

Cover art, key art, promotional images, titles, tags, descriptions, previews, and promotional materials are held to stricter standards than interior narrative text. Noveltree may allow serious mature literary works that depict difficult themes, including non-consensual adult conduct or minor-related abuse, but does not allow sexualized minors, visual depictions of explicit sexual activity involving minors, graphic descriptions of sexual activity involving minors intended for sexual arousal, or eroticized packaging of minor-related abuse.

Creators must accurately apply maturity labels, genres, tags, content warnings, language, completion status, and other metadata where those fields are available or required. Labels and warnings must not be misleading or used to avoid review, age-gating, reader expectations, app-store rules, or platform rules.

3. Historical public-domain works

Historical public-domain works are third-party works whose copyright protection has expired or otherwise no longer applies in the territories where the work would be made available or monetized. They may be allowed on Noveltree, but public-domain status does not automatically make a work eligible for paid access, Copyright Royalties, Sticker-associated Copyright Royalties, Creator Consumable Credits, promotion, or other monetized features.

Creators may not submit a historical public-domain work for paid access or other monetized features unless Noveltree specifically approves paid access or monetization for that work, version, or edition, or platform tools expressly allow monetization for it. Noveltree may approve monetization for a historical public-domain edition where the creator has made a meaningful original contribution, such as an original translation, substantial annotations or scholarly commentary, critical introduction and notes, original illustrations, restored or curated facsimile materials, archival images with original captions and context, or other substantial editorial, artistic, restoration, or curatorial work.

Formatting changes, basic OCR cleanup, public-domain cover images, linked tables of contents, metadata cleanup, generic introductions, collections of freely available texts, price changes, or repackaging alone do not normally qualify. Noveltree may reject, remove, restrict, demonetize, or decline public-domain uploads that are undifferentiated, duplicative, low-quality, poorly formatted, misleading, mostly copied from free sources, insufficiently transformed, or otherwise unsuitable for Noveltree.

This does not prevent creators from submitting their own original works that they choose to make available under an open license or public-domain dedication, provided they have the rights to do so and accurately describe the license. That permission does not guarantee paid access, Copyright Royalties, Sticker-associated Copyright Royalties, Creator Consumable Credits, promotion, or other monetized features. Creators seeking monetization approval for a historical public-domain edition may contact support@noveltree.ca with source information, public-domain basis, the territories where they want Noveltree to make the work available or monetized, and a summary of the original contribution.

4. Copyright ownership and platform licence

Creators keep ownership of their Creator Content. The license granted to Noveltree is for operating, displaying, distributing, promoting, securing, monetizing, and improving Noveltree.

For paid access already sold, Noveltree may continue serving only the immutable version purchased. That purchaser-serving license survives ordinary unpublishing, termination, later territory changes, assignment, transfer, and change of control, subject to limited legal, rights, refund, fraud, abuse, and security exceptions.

Noveltree may use creator names, titles, cover art, key art, reasonable excerpts, previews, thumbnails, summaries, metadata, and public creator profile information to promote Creator Content and Noveltree. Noveltree will not license Creator Content to third-party publishers or create merchandise, adaptations, or standalone derivative commercial products outside Noveltree without a separate agreement.

5. Current royalty schedule

Current Paid Access Royalty Rate — Effective July 14, 2026

For this schedule, a "Royalty-Eligible Access Unit" means one Paid Coin, Promotional Coin, or Creator Consumable Credit consumed for eligible chapter or full-work access that has not been excluded or reversed under the Creator Terms.

Under the current schedule, Estimated Copyright Royalties for eligible chapter and full-work access are calculated at USD $0.01 for each Royalty-Eligible Access Unit consumed. Accordingly, any combination of 100 royalty-eligible Paid Coins, Promotional Coins, and Creator Consumable Credits generates USD $1.00 in Estimated Copyright Royalties.

Noveltree deducts no separate platform commission from the stated Paid Access Royalty Rate.

Ordinary app-store and payment-processing costs do not reduce the current USD $0.01 Paid Access Royalty Rate. Estimated Copyright Royalties are preliminary and non-payable until approved. They may be adjusted, reserved, reversed, offset, or excluded under the Creator Terms for applicable refunds, chargebacks, failed or duplicate transactions, fraud or abuse, technical or reporting errors, rights or compliance issues, required tax treatment, reserves, and offsets.

Current source-bucket spending order for eligible chapter and full-work access: Creator Consumable Credits are consumed first, followed by Promotional Coins, then Paid Coins. Each of those three source buckets generates the same USD $0.01 Paid Access Royalty per unit consumed for eligible access.

  • Paid Coins consumed for eligible chapter or full-work access generate Paid Access Royalties at the current rate.
  • Additional Coins included in a paid package receive the same treatment when Noveltree classifies them as Paid Coins.
  • Promotional Coins consumed for eligible chapter or full-work access generate Paid Access Royalties at the current rate.
  • Creator Consumable Credits consumed for eligible chapter or full-work access generate Paid Access Royalties at the current rate.
  • Test and administrative credits do not generate Paid Access Royalties under the current schedule.
  • PayPal payout processing/admin fee: Noveltree does not currently charge a PayPal payout processing/admin fee. Payout providers, banks, cards, or currency conversion services may impose fees outside Noveltree's control.

Publisher- or creator-designated free chapters and free works use no access units and generate no Paid Access Royalty. Promotional Coins used in a Noveltree-funded promotion receive the same access-royalty treatment as Paid Coins. Test and administrative credits remain ineligible.

Eligible Sticker-associated activity is treated separately and may be one content-associated engagement input in variable Copyright Royalty formulas. Stickers are not direct payments, and a Sticker's Coin cost, rarity, display treatment, promotional value, or visual presentation does not create a fixed creator entitlement. Noveltree does not deduct a separate platform commission from the eligible Sticker-associated royalty base.

Creators choose chapter and full-work list prices from Noveltree's platform pricing options. Noveltree may adjust availability, promotions, refunds, taxes, app-store pricing, and future royalty schedules under the Creator Terms. See Payments & Royalties for a creator-friendly explanation.

For a completed chapter-priced work with a positive full-work price, that price is a cap for the same edition. Eligible chapter amounts already charged count toward the cap, and the reader pays only the lesser of the unpaid cap balance and the price of the remaining paid chapters. Free chapters do not count as payments, and inactive or reversed chapter entitlements do not count toward the active purchase calculation.

When chapter pricing is on and no positive full-work cap applies, including for a completed work without one, the bulk offer covers only the currently published, unowned paid chapters at their combined remaining price. It grants those chapter entitlements, not full-work access or future chapters. A publisher- or creator-designated free chapter grants the complete eligible chapter at zero Coins; a preview is only a limited excerpt or promotional view and does not itself grant a chapter or full-work purchase entitlement.

Noveltree may update the royalty schedule prospectively by updating this page, the Creator Terms, program rules, in-app notices, or another reasonable notice method, subject to the Creator Terms and applicable law.

6. Scheduled payouts

Eligible Approved Copyright Royalties are handled through Noveltree's scheduled payout process after payout eligibility, tax, identity, sanctions, fraud, rights, payment-provider, and compliance review. The app may show the next scheduled payout date, payout method status, and estimated royalty information.

Default Scheduled Royalty Payout cadence: monthly. That default is subject to payout eligibility, review, payment-provider availability, applicable thresholds, holds, reserves, exceptions, and any approved creator-specific or publisher-specific terms. The current PayPal Scheduled Royalty Payout threshold is USD $1.00 in Approved Copyright Royalties allocated to PayPal, before any external payout-provider or currency-conversion fee. Noveltree does not currently charge a PayPal payout processing/admin fee. If only part of your net approved Copyright Royalties is allocated to PayPal because of a Creator Consumable Credit Election, the PayPal portion must meet the applicable threshold.

Creators cannot control payout timing, request immediate payment, or direct payment of unpaid amounts outside Noveltree's scheduled payout process. Payouts may be delayed, skipped, paused, adjusted, offset, reversed, or denied under the Creator Terms.

The current standard payout method is PayPal, with USD shown as the payout currency. Fictiondex Inc. dba Noveltree may approve bank transfer or another supported payout method for a business that completes required business verification, under separate program rules or written terms. Payout eligibility, review, and remittance may be handled manually during private beta. Current payout details may include supported countries, supported currencies, payout providers, payout fees, reserve periods, chargeback or refund windows, and payout schedules. These details may vary by country, currency, payout provider, creator status, risk profile, source bucket, and operational requirements. If a detail is not shown in the dashboard or program materials, contact creator support before relying on it.

Depending on your PayPal account, country, and PayPal's rules, PayPal may make a payout available in a supported local currency or offer PayPal-managed currency conversion. PayPal currency conversion rates, fees, pending-payment rules, country restrictions, and currency restrictions may apply.

7. Creator Consumable Credits

If offered, eligible creators may elect to apply a permitted portion of net approved Copyright Royalties to Creator Consumable Credits after Noveltree accepts the election. Creator Consumable Credit Elections may be capped at up to 50% of net approved Copyright Royalties unless Noveltree sets a lower limit or disables the feature.

Creator Consumable Credits are closed-loop Noveltree credits. They can be used for eligible chapter and full-work access, but cannot be used for Stickers unless Noveltree expressly enables that source bucket for Sticker use. They cannot be redeemed for cash, transferred, sold, traded, pledged, converted back into Copyright Royalties, or used outside Noveltree.

When Creator Consumable Credits are consumed for eligible chapter or full-work access, they generate the same USD $0.01 Paid Access Royalty per unit as Paid Coins and Promotional Coins.

If you apply approved royalties to Creator Consumable Credits, the full approved royalty amount may still be shown or reported for tax or accounting purposes, with the credit election shown separately from any Scheduled Royalty Payout.

8. Sticker guidance

Creators may encourage readers to send Stickers, but should not describe Stickers as tips, donations, gifts of money, direct payments, reader payments, or Coins sent to the creator. Sticker activity may contribute to platform-calculated Copyright Royalties under the Creator Terms.

9. Promotion and reader privacy

Creator promotional claims should be accurate and not misleading. Creators should not imply Noveltree endorsement, special placement, guaranteed earnings, guaranteed payouts, or guaranteed visibility unless Noveltree has approved the claim in writing. Where required by law, creators are responsible for disclosing material connections, sponsorships, incentives, or compensation connected to their Noveltree promotions.

Creators may truthfully say that a work is available on Noveltree, but may not use Noveltree names, logos, badges, screenshots, branding, or similar assets in a way that suggests endorsement, sponsorship, certification, partnership, special placement, or official approval unless Noveltree authorizes that use.

Creators do not receive reader personal information merely because a reader unlocks content, sends Stickers, follows, saves, comments on, reports, or otherwise interacts with Creator Content. Noveltree may provide aggregate, de-identified, or limited creator analytics where permitted by the Privacy Policy, the Creator Terms, and applicable law.

10. Unpublishing and prior purchases

Creators may unpublish Creator Content from new paid access through available platform tools or by request. Noveltree will use commercially reasonable efforts to stop offering the content for new paid access within 5 business days, subject to legal, technical, security, refund, dispute, moderation, and recordkeeping needs. Ordinary unpublishing stops new paid access but does not revoke licenses already purchased. Noveltree may retain and serve the immutable chapter or work version sold to each purchaser.

Later sales-territory changes do not block a purchased version. A later mobile-access change cannot make an earlier purchase more restrictive; an app-only restriction shown at purchase remains part of that purchase. Noveltree may still restrict earlier access where required by law, a binding legal order, a substantiated rights claim, a refund or chargeback, fraud or account abuse, or a security emergency that cannot reasonably be addressed through a narrower measure.

11. Content-protection modes

No DRM. Each purchased chapter or eligible complete work includes ownership of a watermark-free personal-use copy, but not copyright in the work. The interface may provide a combined EPUB or PDF after every required chapter has been purchased. If no combined eBook is available, a purchaser may request a standalone EPUB of the purchased chapter from support. Ordinary unpublishing and later territory or mobile-access changes do not recall an offline copy.

Soft DRM. Each purchased chapter or eligible complete work includes ownership of a personalized, watermarked personal-use copy, but not copyright in the work. The interface may provide a combined EPUB or PDF after every required chapter has been purchased. If no combined eBook is available, a purchaser may request a standalone watermarked EPUB of the purchased chapter from support. Its watermark and associated identifiers remain part of the file. Ordinary unpublishing and later territory or mobile-access changes do not recall an offline copy.

Hard DRM. Readers purchase a personal, non-transferable license to read the content through Noveltree. Downloads and exports are unavailable. Ordinary unpublishing and later sales-territory changes do not revoke that license. An app-only restriction applies to purchases made while that restriction is disclosed.
